Rare Earth Magnets Rare Earth Oxide

Who separates mixed rare earth concentrate into individual oxides in the United States?

What it is

A separated single rare earth oxide, or a defined mixture such as NdPr oxide, produced by solvent extraction from mixed concentrate. Separation is the hard step in rare earths: the elements are chemically almost identical, so splitting them takes hundreds of extraction stages, and it is where the global supply chain concentrates.

Typical dimensions
Sold by mass and assay, commonly at 99 to 99.9 percent purity of the named oxide.
Also known as
REO, NdPr oxide, neodymium oxide, praseodymium oxide, didymium oxide

Suppliers

Grouped by what they actually are. A mill and a distributor answer different needs.

Companies that manufacture this form. Mill direct means longer lead times and mill minimums, with full melt traceability.

  • Lakewood, CO · Mill

Separated NdPr oxide, up to 1,000 tpa. The company states its US-produced heavy rare earth oxide has been qualified for use in permanent magnets, and announced first US primary production of heavy rare earth material in decades in March 2026. IMPORTANT: this is an OXIDE producer only. It does not reduce to metal, and states it will rely on pending acquisitions for downstream metal and magnet production.

High-purity rare earth compounds produced by separation and refining at Mountain Pass. Specific oxide grades and assays are not published on the company pages fetched.
