Glass Fiber Composite Braiding
My part is a tube, a duct or a body of revolution and I want the reinforcement seamless. Who braids the preform, and at what diameter?
What it is
Interlacing tow at bias angles, usually over a mandrel, to produce a seamless tubular or near-net preform. Distinct from weaving: the fibre paths cross at an angle rather than orthogonally, so the preform carries torsion and hoop load without a joint, and it conforms over shape changes a woven fabric would wrinkle over.
