Alumina Metallization and Brazing

I need a hermetic ceramic-to-metal seal or feedthrough. Who metallises and brazes it?

What it is

Depositing thin metal layers, typically tungsten or copper, onto a ceramic surface so that filler metal will wet it, then brazing the ceramic to metal hardware. This is how a ceramic becomes part of a hermetic assembly, which it otherwise cannot.

  • Laurens, SC · Mill Converter Service provider

Hermetic ceramic-to-metal and glass-to-metal sealing under the Ceramaseal brand, rated for ultra-high vacuum from -269 to 450 degrees C.

  • CoorsTek Reported
Golden, CO · Mill Converter Service provider

Metallized ceramic and ceramic-to-metal seals, with aluminas named first among CoorsTek's materials. Alumina is the classic substrate for the moly-manganese metallising route.

  • Windsor · Converter

Alumina grades named as AL300, Sintox FF and Deranox 995 for metallised and brazed hermetic ceramic-to-metal assemblies, including electrical feedthroughs and connectors. Which US site runs this is not established.

  • Millbury, MA · Service provider
    AS9100

Thin film and thick film metallisation and direct bond copper on technical ceramic. This is thermally conductive, electrically isolating substrate metallisation, not moly-manganese hermetic sealing; confirm the joint type required before sourcing.
